EXCERPTS

Yukon Social Services Minister Peter Jenkins is endorsing a plan to improve child care services in the territory.

Child care workers and providers have issued a report recommending a four-year plan to improve child care in the Yukon.

The recommendations call for new money and regulations to overhaul the system.

Jenkins says the extra money to do that should start flowing this spring.

Jenkins says the highest priority should be given to those that will result in more training and higher wages for child care workers.

Jenkins says there should be more money in the next budget for child care.

He says it will be up to day-care operators to decide how that's passed on to their workers.
