EXCERPTS

The Fort Frances Children's Complex Advisory Committee will meet with Ontario NDP leader and local MPP Howard Hampton on Saturday to talk about child care.

Committee chairperson Linda Wall said Thursday morning the meeting will be "to let him know what is stake for child care in Ontario and in our centre in Fort Frances."

The public also is welcome to attend the meeting, which is scheduled from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the Fort Frances Children's Complex.

"This is your opportunity to bring your knowledge and ideas for what the government must do to create better quality, accessible, and affordable child care supported by adequate funding," noted Wall.

"We need to tell the government they need to develop a plan to improve child care," Wall said. "Municipalities have borne the brunt of receiving less funding every year due to government funding caps."

"The government must act to address the crisis in child care in municipalities across Ontario," she stressed. "Some child care programs are facing closures right now."
