Video description: Research shows that many early childhood practitioners do not have the confidence and competence they need to serve young children with disabilities. One reason is because early childhood teacher preparation programs often do not require any courses in working with young children with disabilities. This can be the case even when a program’s stated mission is to prepare early interventionists and early childhood special educators. CONNECT is developing web-based resources and modules on effective practices to help professional development providers fill that void. Modules focus on both content related to young children with disabilities and on helping tomorrow’s practitioners develop evidence-based decision-making skills. All CONNECT modules will be online and in a format that allows them to be easily infused into existing professional development efforts. CONNECT is a collaborative effort with modules being shaped by the needs of those in the field. This exchange is supported by an online community.
