Dear Minister Osborne,
On behalf of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour (NLFL), representing 70,000 unionized workers and their families in our province, please accept our congratulations over your recently signed “$10/day child-care agreement” with the federal government. Our members have long raised the need for more affordable, accessible, inclusive and high-quality childcare, provided by a well-educated and fairly compensated workforce. This need has been made even more evident by the Covid-19 pandemic. We are very pleased to see the federal government step up to the plate to support a national system, which the people of Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), and indeed Canadian families, so desperately need and deserve.
