Policy developments in Ontario: Fall 2001 [1]
An internal Ontario government policy paper leaked to the Toronto Star sets out the removal of $200 million from the provincial budget for regulated child care (currently approximately $470 million which includes funding for regulated child care and family resource programs). The policy paper then proposes three options for the remaining $270 million. The cuts to the child care budget and the proposed options have significant impact on regulated child care, nursery schools and family resource programs in Ontario.
