This report highlights findings from of a survey of Saskatchewan households with children under the age of thirteen. The survey was conducted by Environics Research Group Ltd. under the direction of the Department of Social Services. A total of 1,273 households were interviewed in March 2001.

The overall objectives of the survey were to investigate among the approximately 100,000 Saskatchewan households with children under the age of thirteen:

- current child care arrangements used;
- child care preferences and needs;
- issues that cause particular difficulties for managing work and child care; and
- opinions about the role of government in meeting those needs.
