People are telling the New Brunswick population growth secretariat that government should make it easier for those who want to have children.

Many of the online submissions from the public are calling for more aid for families, including tax breaks and better child care. Secretariat chief executive Humphrey Sheehan says increasing the birth rate will be considered in a fall report. The low birth rate was cited as a major challenge by the secretariat, noting the 1.4 children per woman is less than the national average of 1.53.
