EXCERPTS

As a parent who has struggled in finding good child care, I find the Conservative platform on child care to be insulting and demoralizing to women and their families.

Stephen Harper's plan to pay families $1,200 per child per year does not provide women and families with choices.

I hope all parents will take a hard look at what the Conservative child care policy really adds up to before they vote. What will we get in return for a child care allowance of $1 a day for most of us? Not good early learning experiences for our children, that's for sure. I know this allowance won't help me find or pay for good child care.

Before the election, it looked as if child care was finally becoming a priority for governments. To ensure the continued support for children, women and their families, we must elect a government whose policies put our children's future first -- and not at risk.
