EXCERPTS

The B.C. Ministry of Community, Aboriginal, and Women's Services has announced a boost in funding to help children with special needs attend child-care.

Minister of State for Women's Equality Lynn Stephens says the government will chip in an extra $3.3 million a year over the next five years.

The funding is the first instalment from a federal-provincial Early Learning and Child-Care agreement signed in March 2003.

As a result of the agreement B.C. will receive $121.6 million over the five-year plan.
