A Ryerson ECE student - Patrick M. - asked Stephen Harper a question about child care during his interview on Youtube.

Patrick asked why Harper has not invested in a national child care
plan and said the $1,200 Universal Child Care Benefit "doesn't even
make a dent in the actual cost of child care". He called the UCCB "an
insult to families".

Harper responded by saying that his government has a "different
approach" and that "parents want to make their own day care decisions".
Harper also claimed that the "previous government promised to create a
national child care system for many years. They spent billions of
dollars; Canadian parents never saw any of that."
