Summary of changes [3]

Description:

The Government of Nova Scotia has approved a new set of regulations for day care facilities and family home day care programs.

These regulations will be effective as of April 1, 2011.

We have developed these regulations with the intention of providing clarity and consistency with respect to the expectations for licensing. There are some new requirements but many of the current requirements will remain the same.

....

Standards are requirements that must be met in order to comply with the Day Care Regulations. Standards have been developed in the following areas:

- Food and Nutrition
- Extended Hours Child Care
- Family Home Day Care
- Daily Program
- Level 1 Classification for Staff Qualifications

All standards will be effective as of July 1, 2011. This is to allow time for implementation of the standards.

....

A new classification system for staff training will be implemented. The effective date for this new system is May 1, 2012.
