EXCERPTS

The Alberta Liberals are championing full-day kindergarten and universal child care, Leader David Swann announced Monday in Edmonton.

"This fully-costed proposal is the right investment," Swann said. "The government has a responsibility to help provide support for children to excel early in life."

As a start, the Liberals would invest $25 million towards licensed and affordable child care spaces, he said.

"It's going to be eventually a universal program where fees would be a maximum of $20 a day."

The Liberals also vowed to create a "mandatory-choice" vaccination system to inform parents of the risks of not vaccinating their children, and also add the teaching of consent in the Sexual Health Education curriculum.
