EXCERPTS

The introduction of full-day Kindergarten this year is having an impact on staffing levels at day cares.

Ryan Young of the Child Care Coalition of Newfoundland and Labrador says he's learned that many day cares are laying off staff as a result.

He says one larger centre told him they had to let ten staff go last week, while another smaller centre had to let four staff go.

Young says while they support full-day Kindergarten in general, they feel that the implementation was rushed.
