The Sloan Work and Family Research Network at Boston College is designed to support research and teaching, promote best practices at the workplace, and inform policy on issues that affect the lives of working families and the places where they work. This site features a literature database, and some online publications.

SPR is published by the Society for Research in Child Development and provides current research on social policy issues and their effect on children. Quarterly reports are available to download.

The Social Union initiative is the umbrella under which governments will concentrate their efforts to renew and modernize Canadian social policy. As a result of the Spanish Educational Reform Act of 1990, the Ministry of Education became responsible for all services for children 0-6 years (educacion infantile). CHILD, the Consortium for Health, Intervention, Learning and Development, is a team of academic researchers and community professionals from across BC. The CHILD project consists of 10 interdisciplinary studies. One of the focus areas is the policy context for early child development, which includes a study of child care policy. The child care policy project examines a broad range of legislation that affects the quality, accessibility and affordability of regulated child care programs in the province. The study analyzes the effects of policy changes to the child care subsidy system, operating grants, the system of child care resource and referral programs, caregiver training programs and child care services for children with extra support needs.

The Unit for Child Care Research and Professional Development (UCCR) located within the School of Child and Youth Care at the University of Victoria was created in the early 1990s to provide services and resources to organizations, agencies, individuals, communities and governments in the areas of early childhood care and education and the delivery of service to children and families.

The Australian Work + Family Policy Roundtable is made up of researchers with expertise on work and family policy. Its goal is to propose, comment upon, collect and disseminate relevant policy research to inform good, evidence-based public policy in Australia.

World Bank's ECD site is designed to assist policy makers, program managers, and practitioners in their efforts to promote the health, growth, and development of children. Journals, reports, regional and country specific research available.
Social policy/child organizations
Site focuses on early childhood in Sub-Saharan Africa. It provides: a review of the condition of young children in Africa; examples of case studies; and a description of World Bank activities in ECD programs in the Africa Region. Emphasis is placed on addressing the needs of children in especially difficult circumstances, such as those affected by HIV/AIDS, orphans, and children with special needs.
