EXCERPTS

It's a first for the University of Saskatchewan.

The U of S is celebrating the completion of the university's first stand-alone childcare centre located across the street from the campus.

The chair of the university's childcare expansion committee and vice-provost of teaching and learning said that the new childcare spaces will help students reach their goals.

"We know that access to childcare can be a real challenge for student-parents," said Patti McDougall.

This new standalone child care centre has space for 90 kids, from six months to six years old.

There are now 200 childcare spaces at the U of S.

Setting up this new stand-alone building cost $4.3 million, with the money coming from the U of S and the provincial government.
