Overview

A 4in10 survey of London's early years settings shows that underfunding of the 30 hours 'free' childcare offer threatens the financial viability of many childcare providers when the scheme is introduced in September 2017. This report calls on the Mayor and local authorities to support the early years sector through the rollout of the offer to ensure that eligible families in London don't miss out on places, to protect the quality of childcare provision, provide business support for providers to maintain and expand childcare places, and monitor the impact of the offer on disadvantaged children on 15 hours places.
