EXCERPTS

Quebec city - Thousands of union members are in Quebec City today for the start of what's billed as the largest labour convention in Canada.

The week-long biannual convention of the Canadian Union of Public Employees will see the election of a new president.

Delegates will also gather at the National Assembly to protest the Charest government's plan to end Quebec's five-dollar-a-day child care program.
