EXCERPTS

Some day-care operations in Moncton are struggling to find certified staff that speak French.

Most day-cares find it hard to find trained staff in any language, but French centres in Moncton say there seem to be far fewer certified people who speak French.

Monique McMillan, who owns Garderie ABC Daycare, says people who want to take an Early Childhood Education course in French have to travel to Campbellton.

"It can cost between $9,000 and $11,000 a year, with accommodation and the training. And, to go there and take the training and come back to make $8.00-$8.50 an hour is very hard for people to do."

People can also take the course by correspondence &em; for an extra $6,000 tuition.
