EXCERPTS:

WINNIPEG - Manitoba Liberals say they would spend an extra $44.5 million over five years on early childhood education and to boost daycare spaces.

Liberal Leader Jon Gerrard picked a south Winnipeg daycare centre to suggest the NDP government is all talk and no action when it comes to daycare.

He pointed out the Little Saints daycare has 38 spaces and they're all full.

There are 188 children on the waiting list.

Gerrard said mothers have to put their children on waiting lists before they're born to try to secure a space.

He says much of the money would target children under two whose parents have a particularly tough time finding child care.
