The founder of Child Coalition NL says it's time for a national childcare conversation in Canada.
Ryan Young was responding to the report released by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. The report shows the price of child care in Newfoundland and Labrador is among the highest in the country, second only to Toronto. It shows families pay on average $1,400 a month.
Young says something needs to happen to help families. He's looking to the federal government.
Young feels there was a missed opportunity to do something about it when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the news for hiring two full-time Nanny's to watch his children. He says that's when we should have had a real conversation on the issue.
