EXCERPTS

The NDP is calling for improved child care facilities across Saskatchewan.

Opposition leader Ryan Meili says Saskatchewan has the worst access in Canada to childcare.

He says subsidies are stuck in the 1980’s and 43 percent of kids entering kindergarten are not ready to do so.

He says kids, parents and the economy suffers when there is a lack of adequate child care.

Education minister Gord Wyant says the province announced Thursday 130 more child care spaces across the province.

He says 46 percent of child care spaces in Saskatchewan were created by the SaskParty government.

He says the province has a major commitment to expand child care spaces.
