Construction continues on the new 7,400 sq. ft. daycare centre in Morden.

The Pembina Valley Childcare Centres' (PVCC) new location will add 90 spaces (16 infant and 74 pre-school) to the original Morden site's 112 spaces.

Heather Francis of Hive Development Group notes the project is ahead of schedule and will boast seven childcare rooms for kids up to five years old.

As a former city councillor, Francis says it's gratifying to work on such a needed project. "I know there is a need for childcare, and it's been a need for many, many years... and 90 more spaces will make a big difference for a lot of families in our community."

Shuana Richards, PVCC Director, encourages families to sign up soon as they'll be reserving spots before the year's end.

Along with the Manitoba government's $792,000 under the Canada-Manitoba Learning and Child Care agreement, The City of Morden has contributed $450,000 to the project, as well as agreeing to lease the land for 99 years for one dollar.

The $1.24 million project is expected to be completed for a March 2020 opening.
