The City is hosting a public information session to assess childcare space needs.
It will be held this Saturday at South Fort George Family Resource Centre, 1200 La Salle Ave., 2-5 p.m.
Parents, caregivers, and families are welcome to drop by to view a public information display, ask questions, and provide comments.
The information gathered will help identify specific issues, trends, and needs related to the creation of new childcare spaces over the next 10 years.
The provincial government recently committed $1 billion over three years to childcare. This includes $237 million to create 22,000 new licensed childcare spaces across B.C.
And it earmarked $2.85 million for the Community Child Care Planning Program, which is administered by the Union of BC Municipalities.
The City received a grant from UBCM through this program to engage in planning activities to develop a community action plan in order to create more childcare spaces.
A survey is also available on the City website until October 13
