Stratford is offering emergency child care for essential workers.

Starting Monday, spaces will be available at Anne Hathaway Day Care Centre in Stratford from 7 o’clock in the morning until 5:30 in the afternoon for children aged 12 months to 12 years.

Officials say the spaces will be allocated in order of application, and will only be available to those on the list of workers eligible for emergency child care, and who have exhausted all other possibilities for child care.

Given the growing concerns about the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on the community, Social Services staff says they have taken precautions to ensure the health and well-being of the children, families, staff and the broader community.

The Anne Hathaway Day Care Centre is licensed for 107 children, but they will only be accepting a maximum of 25 children to ensure proper social distancing and safety.

Officials say they have also been in constant consultation with Huron Perth Public Health and Ontario’s Ministry of Education to ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place.
