Eleanor’s* eldest son was so “traumatised” in his last year at a childcare centre he had to be medicated to sleep.

He came home with injuries including a bloody nose from a “full-blown fist fight”, a broken arm, a sliced eyelid and an unexplained black eye, the Sydney mum said.

His younger brother also didn’t escape unscathed, with his injuries including a huge lump on his forehead, grazes under his eye and severe nappy rash.

Eleanor said her experience at the for-profit childcare centre had been “fantastic” when her eldest first enrolled three years ago, but staff and management changes later turned the final year into a “torturous” experience.
