Canadian families in rural communities face many challenges in finding quality early childhood education and care opportunities for their children. The lack of available, affordable, high quality services, the need for child care to be flexible due to atypical and seasonal working hours and the necessity for child care to address the safety of children on farms are pressing concerns for many rural families in Canada .
