Description:

On June 4, 2009 George Brown College and the Atkinson Centre for Society and Child Development hosted the sixth annual Summer Institute on Early Childhood Development. The Summer Intstitute series presents program, policy ideas and strategies for collaborative partnerships between early years programs, community agencies and parents.

This year's topic examined parent involvement research and demonstrated that the most effective time to engage parents in their children's early learning and development is when their children are young. There were discussions on effective policies and early childhood programs that engage parents and amplify children's early learning experiences.

The contributions of Kerry McCuaig, a leading researcher and policy thinker to the development of national child and family policy, was recognized at this event.

Presentations from the Summer Institute are available through the link above.
