Introduction
Regulated family child care is a relatively recent addition to the Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) landscape in Newfoundland and Labrador. Its journey began under unique circumstances, faced several challenges in its early years, and has since experienced significant growth in spaces and provider support following the introduction of the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) agreements. Newfoundland and Labrador is unique with a single family child care agency managing all providers across the province. Providers are well-compensated, have access to medical benefits and are compensated for statutory holidays, vacation days, and approved professional development days.
