Australia’s remaining workers who are stopping the country’s economy from collapsing will be given free childcare to allow them to stay in critical roles.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the government will spend $1.6 billion supporting 13,000 childcare facilities and parents to take away the financial burden of having children.
“Childcare and early childhood education is critical,” he said.
“Particularly for those Australians who rely on it so they can go to work every day, particularly those who are working in the such critical areas.
“If you have a job in this economy then that is an essential job, in my view, in terms of running of the economy and it is important that all of those parents who have children, that they get access to the childcare and those facilities will be there for them in the many months ahead.”
