Harper ran through his list of proud moments such as the federal accountability act, cutting back the GST by two percentage points, recognizing Quebec as a nation within Canada, standing up for Israel and the child care tax benefit, leaving the podium to walk around the stage and point out people sitting behind him who had benefited from his different policies.

Harper even brought up, yet again, the infamous campaign-trail gaffe that Scott Reid, who was then director of communications to former prime minister Paul Martin, made in 2005, saying parents would spend the $100 child-care tax benefit on "beer and popcorn", which had the crowd chanting "for shame".
