This tool provides support to individuals and community groups in their advocacy for BC children, youth and families. "Snapshots" of these relevant issues can be used to raise awareness locally, provincially and nationally. And they can help to promote legislation, policy and practice that benefit children and youth.
Each section focuses on one of our Keys to Success and is broken down into "What Do We Know?", "What Do We Need?", "You Might Hear People Ask:" with First Call replies, "Questions for Candidates" and Sources for further information.
Spend some time reading and considering these tools. They are meant to stimulate interest and discussion of the issues, priorities, and possible solutions. You and/or your organization can support advocacy for children and youth when you:
- Learn more about these issues from children, youth, and families in your programs and community
- Share this information with co-workers, friends and neighbours
- Present the information to local politicians and community leaders, and tell them which child and youth issues are important to you
- Organize or participate in a public event or an all-candidates meeting to focus on child and youth issues
- Provide the information to your local media
