Linda Mitchell, Associate Professor and Director of the Early Years Research Centre at The University of Waikato, New Zealand
Linda Mitchell is currently completing a four year project on participation of disadvantaged children in early childhood education. Linda has researched widely on early childhood education policy, and is a critic of the marketization and commercialisation of education, and the impact on children, families and early childhood services. Other current areas of her research are in assessment, culturally responsive pedagogy, and connections with parents, families and community. A main interest is in democratic policies and practices in early childhood education. Her background as a union leader has given Linda unique experience and insight into collective advocacy influencing policy.
