ECEBC is pleased to present its 41st annual conference, "Playing It Forward:
Discovering the Wonder and Value of Authentic Play." As early childhood educators we know the importance of play in children's overall development, and this conference will be full of opportunities to explore the many dimensions of play. The conference will also bring opportunities to examine theories and trends in our professional early childhood practices, approaches to leadership, advocacy, and other signifi cant issues that affect our field.

We are excited to offer innovative workshops, inspiring presenters, a fantastic Trade Show and Resource Fair, sit-down lunch buffets, and a Friday night Gala that promises to be an evening of celebration and fun. This year, to celebrate Westcoast Child Care Resource Centre's 25th anniversary, ECEBC and Westcoast have planned a wonderful evening at Science World on Thursday evening. It's another conference event to not miss!

Journey from Isolation to Inclusion

Event date:
17 Nov 2011 - 5:30pm to 8:00pm

Many organizations work collaboratively to determine the best possible strategy to reach out to families who struggle with the day-to-day hardships of prolonged isolation. Our discussion will explore the role and efficacy of Home Visiting in improving the home environment, parental agency, and child development. The focus of our talk will be Home Visiting approaches that specifically employ paraprofessionals (e.g. Mothers working with Mothers) to work with high-risk families.

The speakers will share their knowledge and insights based on research with families and the current trends in Home Visiting from both national and international perspectives as one piece of a holistic approach to family support. Four mothers who are past participants in the Home Visiting Program will offer their unique insights and describe the impact Home Visiting made in their lives.
