Journey from Isolation to Inclusion

Event date:
17 Nov 2011 - 5:30pm to 8:00pm

Many organizations work collaboratively to determine the best possible strategy to reach out to families who struggle with the day-to-day hardships of prolonged isolation. Our discussion will explore the role and efficacy of Home Visiting in improving the home environment, parental agency, and child development. The focus of our talk will be Home Visiting approaches that specifically employ paraprofessionals (e.g. Mothers working with Mothers) to work with high-risk families.

The speakers will share their knowledge and insights based on research with families and the current trends in Home Visiting from both national and international perspectives as one piece of a holistic approach to family support. Four mothers who are past participants in the Home Visiting Program will offer their unique insights and describe the impact Home Visiting made in their lives.
