ACCESS Highlights report [PDF] (The pandemic experience has created an uncertain future for Canadian child care services: Highlights of a national survey)

In June 2020, CRRU published a Highlights report of a cross-Canada survey of regulated child care centres and family child care homes conducted in May 2020. The purpose of this survey was to learn about the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on early learning and child care provision, finances, and concerns for the future. The information can be used to support the recovery of regulated child care services' pre-COVID capacity and to begin to construct a more solid, sustained, evidence-based early learning and child care system for all Canadians.

The June report provides details of the survey highlights; while the purpose of this Preliminary Results report is to make the descriptive data collected by the survey publicly available. This report provides the survey data by province/territory in table form as well as additional comments provided by respondents, also provided by province/territory.

The report is provided in two ways below:

  • as the full report including both the survey data and the appendix and
  • in two separate parts – the survey data and the appendix.

Note that this Preliminary Results report is available only in English, although all additional comments provided in French have been left in French.
